Spring Cleaning and Burning Yard Waste
As we all begin to clean our yards, we here at the Fire Department would like to remind you to please be cautious if you plan on burning your “Yard Waste”. Within the Village limits, you no longer need a burn permit to do this, but please follow some common-sense guidelines.
Do not burn on a Red Flag Day. You can find out if it’s a Red Flag Day by observing the Red Flag on the Flag Pole at Fire Station 1, or visit the National Weather Service website at
https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/fire_wx/ and enter Angel Fire, NM in the local forecast box in the upper left corner of the page and select “Go”. Then look under the header of “Hazardous Weather Outlook” and select the link for the weather update.
Have a water source nearby to extinguish the fire in case something happens, such as the wind increases and embers are floating away, you must suddenly leave, or if the fire begins to accidentally spread.
Please follow the parameters below for open burning.
If for any reason your fire gets out of control, please call 911 immediately.
Ordinance 4-2-4; Open Fires
